Elizabeth Zenger, Ph.D., L.Ac is the founder of Inner Works Acupuncture, PC. She has been in private practice in Portland, OR since 2001. Her clinical expertise is in Classical Five Element Acupuncture, Zero Balancing, and Chinese herbal medicine.  Dr. Zenger also teaches Zero Balancing.

Dr. Zenger combines a dedication to clinical practice with deep knowledge of classical Chinese culture, and a background in Western health care research. Her current interests are in mind-body approaches to healing, and depth psychology. Her goal is to bring a depth approach to the clinical practice of acupuncture and hands-on therapies. Her background includes:

  • Over ten years in private clinical practice in Portland, OR. Oregon acupuncture license, Oregon Medical Board.
  • Board-certified Chinese herbalist and acupuncturist, NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine).
  • Postgraduate certification in Classical Five Element Acupuncture, Five Element Acupuncture Training. Dr. Zenger is a member of the Worsley Institute and an approved practitioner of Classical Five Element Acupuncture.
  • Certified Zero Balancer, Zero Balancing Health Association. Dr. Zenger also serves as a mentor for students in the certification program, and facilitates a Zero Balancing study group in Portland.
  • Zero Balancing Faculty in training.
  • Faculty, Oregon School of Massage.
  • Former faculty member and former Dean of Doctoral Studies at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.
  • Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, Portland, Oregon 2001.
  • Four years of living, working and studying in mainland China, cultivating skills in Mandarin language, calligraphy, taijiquan, qigong, and acupuncture.
  • Ph.D. in Public Health, Johns Hopkins University, 1991. Dr. Zenger’s work in public health includes two years at Princeton University’s Office of Population Research, and two years as a Rockefeller Foundation fellow at Beijing University.
